The Effects of Daily Adaptive Functioning on Depression in the Elderly: The mediating effects of life satisfaction and social support

|
Difficulty in daily adjustment functioning, life satisfaction, and social support have been known as main factors of depression. This study examined mediating effects of life satisfaction and social support in the relationship between daily adjustment functioning and depression. The data were collected from a sample of 223 participants aged of 65 to 80 years who met the K-MMSE educational criteria for the normal. The results included: (a) daily adjustment functioning had positive influence on life satisfaction and social support but negative influence on depression: (b) life satisfaction partially mediated the path between daily adjustment functioning and depression: (c) social support partially mediated the path between daily adjustment functioning and depression. and (d) life satisfaction and social support played significant roles in the path between daily adjustment functioning and depression, and life satisfaction was found to report higher levels of effectiveness than other.
